This seems to be outside the program itself. It looks like it is related to the installation and activation of the program.
When you want to remove it you should use the add/remove programs functionality in the control panel.
If you do this manually you will have to remove everything related to the program. It is stored in different places and some of them are hidden. In addition it may be some registry values that needs to be cleared too.
My best tip for noe is to use the Add/remove programs functionality to see if this may help you. But this may abort too (since it will not find the files to remove). But it may be worth a try.

Now having a problem with whole game! Have had to reinstall and can't get Bodyshop. Game works but is stuck in Documents and won't go to Programmes. Never had these problems with XP!
Will try again using your advice once sorted. Many thanks.

I use Double Deluxe myself. The Downloads folder path should be:
My Documents>EA Games>Sims 2>Downloads
If you move all your downloaded files to the correct folder, they will show up in Sims Explorer.
Have your downloads been showing up in your game at ALL? If they're in the folder you mention, they shouldn't be...
Either way, Sims Explorer works a lot like Windows Explorer does, you can move up and down the folder hierarchy. It defaults to the Downloads folder, but you can "point" it to any folder on your PC...

noob: best advice i can give you is get away from vista altogether. try 7, you'll like it. long ago,(i've blocked out most of that painful memory), i used vista for playing sims 2 and then 3. (aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!! sums it up nicely.) after adding triple the hardrive space, a much better graphics card and trippling memory, it was able to run almost acceptably. for the price of all this, you could upgrade to 7 and save yourself a chunk of change and much heartache.
